"Sorrow"

The uneasiness or pain of mind which is produced by the loss of any good or frustrated hopes of good, or expected loss of happiness; to grieve; to be sad. This says what so many today are living with, many who do so in heaviness of heart. Yet we press on, driven often times with the daily responsibilities of life. It is with these demands we are thankful.

Without daily activities to exercise the mind, we might go stir crazy. Yet comes the evening or a moment of calm when we are alone with their thoughts and the sorrow rises to the surface. Aldo Kraas wrote, Everyday I am alone in my sorrow And everyday my sorrow is there.

When we are living with our loss, allowing ourselves to feel and facing the reality of the source of our sadness, not trying to deny or bury the reality, then we have the real hope of progressing forward. Loss forces us to make some changes. These changes are usually not welcome, nor easily acclimated. They are necessary in our progression forward.

Change does not mean we have to forget the past. It does mean accepting the change and building from there a new life. Beginning a new is often difficult. As we continue to live with sorrow, we also may begin to build that new foundation of a new life by taking care of ourselves physically.

Regular physical activity is beneficial toward increasing the chemicals within our brain that produces positive moods. Another positive step forward is a healthy eating habit. A balanced plan that involves plenty of green vegetables, legumes, fruits, nuts, and water or tea will also be very helpful. A grief diary, memorial album (with pictures and letters or notes), music, special recipes or plantings to commemorate that which or whom was lost. This is forward living.
