Abbie Vaughan Peters departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 10, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
She spent most of her life in Hardeman County, having been born the second of seven children to the late George William and Rachiel Vaughan on August 8, 1919 and spent her youth on the Vaughan farm at Shandy. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Bolivar, Tennessee and resided on North Jones Street before moving in with her son after an illness.
She is survived by her son, Claude Allen Peters and his wife Mary Sue of Germantown, Tennessee; brother, Luther Vaughan of Bolivar; sisters, Carolyn Messer of Bolivar, Elizabeth Kaczmarek of Collierville, and Ruth Coopwood of Memphis.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Claude Alexander Peters; her father, George William Vaughan; her mother, Rachiel Vaughan; and two brothers, G. W. Vaughan, and Raymond Vaughan, both of Bolivar.
Mrs. Peters was active in the Women's Auxiliary of the VFW, and was an avid gardener, who loved growing flowers and vegetables.
