Ailene Clayton of Waynesboro, TN was born July 20, 1922 in Wayne County, TN, the daughter of the late William (Bill) Elihue and Dena Irene Devers Pulley. She was united in marriage to Rawleigh (Bill) Clayton and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1993.
Mrs. Clayton was a retired telephone operator and Genesco factory worker and had owned Sew and Sew Cloth Shop . She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee.
Mrs. Clayton departed this life on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Wayne County Nursing Home in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 91 Years, 11 Days.
She is survived by daughters, Jimmie Elizabeth (Cookie) Gray and Dena Ruth (Patty) Major; a son, Danny Clayton and wife, Wanda all of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Tyler Stricklin, Leah Nelson and husband, Chris, David Brewer; great-grandchildren, Sam Brewer, Deja and Dylan Dixon; brothers, Billy Pulley of Lawrenceburg, TN, Johnny Pulley of Waynesboro, TN; sisters, Ruby Donegan of Waynesboro, TN, Kathleen Miller of Ft. Worth, TX; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by a grandchild, Gwenna Dixon and seven brothers and sisters.
Services will be Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with H.H. Hurst and Jerry L. Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens of Wayne County, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Visitation will be Friday, August 2, 2013 from 5:30 pm to 9 pm and Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 8 am until service time at the funeral.
