Alfred S. Starnes was born May 8, 1931 in Blount County, AL the son of the late Oliver Paul and Ada Rachel Huffman Starnes.
He was united in marriage to Alice M. White on June 8, 1959.
Mr. Starnes retired from trucking after 33 years. He was a member of Solitude Free Will Baptist Church. He loved the Lord, his family and church family. He spent time raising a team of mules, restoring old tractors and enjoyed riding his horses. His favorite hobby was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Starnes was a gentle giant with the heart of a servant, a ready smile and firm handshake that believed everyone was special. He will be greatly missed by his family, church and community.
Mr. Starnes departed this life on June 16, 2017 in Enville, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 1 Month, 8 Days. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Starnes of Enville, TN; five sons, Kent Alan Starnes and wife Sharon of Ladson, SC, Karl Stacy Starnes and wife Katherine of Enville, TN, Richard Keith Starnes and wife Crystal of La Porte, IN, Christopher Laverne Starnes and wife Gail of Rolling Prairie, IN, Gregory Paul Starnes and wife Valorie of Michigan City, IN; widow of Butch Starnes, Melissa Starnes; thirteen grandchildren, Cassandra, Elise, Shelly, Amber, Patrick, Stacy, Keith, Jessie, Felisha, Jake, Kylie, Muttley, and Kaylynn; nineteen great grandchildren, Greyson, Ashylynn, Gabriel, Billy, Hayden, Mykala, Thomas, Hunter, Ashton, Brayden, Kali, Greycie, Natalie, Dawson, Addsion, Robert, Jeremiah, Scarlett, and Parker; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Starnes was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Ray Starnes, Charles Edward (Butch) Starnes; four brothers, Thurman, Thelmon, Edward, and Frank Starnes; three sisters, Bertha Tuck, Mable Lawrence, and Vonnie Johnson.
