ANNIE RUTH BLACK
Henderson, TN: Annie Ruth Mayfield Black, age 95 passed away February 19, 2015 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born August 27, 1919 in Memphis, TN and grew up in Silerton, the daughter of the late Richilieu Monroe and Camiola Ross Mayfield. She attended schools at Silerton and graduated from Bolivar High School. She married Samuel Forrest Black in 1943. They made their home at Silerton all their married life. Mr. Black died in 1954 in an accident at the Tannery in Bolivar. She had worked as a teacher’s assistant at Toone Elementary and had made her home in Henderson since October 2010. She was a member of the Silerton Baptist Church.
Mrs. Black is survived by two sons, Kenneth Black and wife Betty of Vicksburg, MS and David Black and wife Wanda of Henderson; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Louis Mayfield.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Charlie Crouthers and Gary Wake officiating and burial will follow in Silerton Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday.
