Arthur Frank Northcutt was born in Hardin County, Tennessee in the Cerro Gordo community on February 23, 1921, the son of the late Liman Clifford and Flora Catherine Stanfield Northcutt. On December 19, 1941, he was united in marriage to Martha Margaret Blackwelder, who preceded him in death on May 27, 2017. Mr. Northcutt departed this life on April 7, 2018, at the age of 97 years, 1 month, and 15 days.
Mr. Northcutt was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Civil Conservation Corps in Washington State, and the Hardin County Commission. In his lifetime, he was a farmer, worked as a school bus driver for Hardin County, and also operated the Hardin County Ferry and Saltillo Ferry. Mr. Northcutt served his country in the United States Army. During his extensive military service, he served under General George S. Patton in the 3rd Army in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, and Juno Beach, France, just 30 days after the invasion on Normandy.
Mr. Northcutt is survived by his son, Arthur Wallace "Butch" Northcutt and wife Ruthie; sisters, Willie Kay Cromwell and Flora Catherine Harris; granddaughter, Christie Northcutt Pettit and husband Aaron Pettit; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Northcutt was preceded in death by his brother, Wallace "Pete" Northcutt and sister, Lucille Blackwelder.
