Barbara Gayle Willoughby Baker was born in Savannah, Tennessee on September 6, 1936, the third child to the late Hubert Alvin and Allie Barnhill Willoughby.
Barbara was a dedicated parent to her daughter, serving both roles, mother and father. She retired from City Finance where she held the position of secretary for over 42 years. Barbara was very out going person and lived her life to the fullest. She loved to square dance, cross-stitch, bake birthday cakes, and cook, she even took first place in a BBQ contest in Memphis, Tennessee. Barbara was very independent, strong willed, tenderhearted, and had a heart of gold.
Barbara departed this life on Monday, September 18, 2017, at the age of 81 years and 12 days. She had fought breast cancer, diabetes, and alzheimer's.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Brodie and her husband, Carleton of Jacksonville, Florida; niece, Kathy Linam Crowe and her husband Steve; and nephew, Mike Linam and his wife Vanessa.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Willoughby and sister, Mackie Linam and her husband Lloyd.
