Mrs. Bettie Sue McKinnie Kinney (September 24, 1916 – September 24, 2013) of Bolivar passed away September 24, 2013 at Regional Hospital of Jackson. She was the widow of Duke William Kinney, who passed away February 7, 1975. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She was well known for her beautiful flowers. She did volunteer work with the Hardeman County Red Cross for 35 years. She was awarded the Tennessee Outstanding Achievement Award, and the State of Tennessee Certificate of Appreciation. She was a volunteer with the Western Mental Health Gray Ladies.
Mrs. Kinney was born in Whiteville to the late Betty Neely and the late Ben F. McKinnie. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bolivar.
Mrs. Kinney is survived by three children, James Roland Kinney of Litchfield, IL., Bettye Kinney Davis and husband Larry of Covington, TN, and Patricia Kinney Brown of Middleton, TN; five grandchildren, William (Bill) Kinney and wife Jennifer of Litchfield, IL, Robert (Rob) Kinney and wife Laura of Chatham, IL, Justin Davis of Covington, TN, Larissa Sanford and husband Jeff, of Covington, TN, Richard Matlock and wife Camille, of Knoxville, TN; three step grandchildren, Michael (Mike) Kinney and wife Rochelle of Holly Springs, MS, and Bobby Kinney and wife Tina of Red Banks, MS, Pam Hubbard and husband William of Cabot, AR; eight great-grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren and five step great-great-grandchildren; four nephews and three nieces.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a step son William (Billy) Kinney, an infant grandson James Roland Kinney II, a step grandson Larry Joe Kinney, two sisters, Margaret Howse and Frances Olstrum.
