Billy Franks, of Savannah, was born in Hardin County on February 15, 1937, the son of the late Kin and Rena Franks.
On December 24, 1966, he united in marriage to Georgie Lee Maness, who survives.
Mr. Franks served his country in the United States Air Force and Navy. He worked as an electrician for 30 years. He loved spending time outdoors gardening, cutting firewood, and driving his tractor. He enjoyed being involved in sports in which his children or grandchildren participated. He spent several years coaching and volunteering with Little League Baseball. After retiring, he and Georgie enjoyed traveling and making special memories together. He had
a caring spirit and was always willing to help others.
Mr. Franks departed this life on Thursday, November 30, at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 15 days.
In addition to his devoted wife of 50 years, Billy is survived by his son Bryan Franks and wife Stephanie of Jackson, TN, son Ronald Franks and wife Adria of Collierville, TN, and daughter Chanda Franks of Friendship, TN. He had four grandchildren that held a special place in his heart; Kaylee and Bryce Franks (Bryan) and Tyler and Brady Franks (Ronald), and two stepgrandchildren,
Trace and Hope Elizabeth Magro (Ronald).
Serving as pallbearers are Tyler Franks, Brady Franks, and Bryce Franks (grandsons), Scotty Gean (great-nephew), Donald Byrd and Cozmin Majors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Boyd “Joe” Franks, Jimmie “Buster” Franks, and Herbye Franks; and three sisters, Dellia Eaves, Blanche White, and Evelyn Scott.
