Blanch Burgess was born July 23, 1926, the daughter of the late James Lawson and Mary Blanch Adams Cummings. She was united in marriage to Everett Burgess, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Burgess was born in Hardin County and later moved to Gibson County, where she lived for ten years and then returned to Hardin County and lived there for the rest of her life. She worked for and retired from Wilson Sporting Goods, but her favorite work was that of a housewife. She loved to work in her garden, flower garden, and was a collector of many things.
Mrs. Burgess departed this life on July 18, 2013, at Hardin Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 86 years 11 months and 25 days.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Jean Stricklin and her husband, Thomas of Savannah, Tennessee and Donna Sue Clayton and her husband, Steve of Henderson, Tennessee; a very special friend, R. C. Franks of Savannah, Tennessee; one sister, Thelma Doyle of Savannah, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Teresa Foster, Jimmy Wardlow, Heather Ross, Hope Clayton, Heath Clayton and Dustin Hall; fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Everett and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J. L. Cummings and Douglas M. Cummings.
