Bobby Gene Howell

Bobby Gene Howell, age 77 of Middleton, Tennessee, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at his home after a short illness.

Mr. Howell was born on December 4, 1936, in Bemis, Tennessee, to the late James Elbert and Lula Mae Sisco Howell. On February 27, 1958, he was united in marriage to Martha Lois Davis who passed away on June 8, 2000 after 42 years, 3 months and 12 days of marriage. He lived most of his life in Hardeman County and was a member of Brint's Chapel Baptist Church.

He owned and operated several businesses throughout his life. He enjoyed farming and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 30, 2014, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar, Tennessee with Dr. Adrian Knipper officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery in Middleton, Tennessee with his grandsons, Chris, Justin and Phillip Howell, Colton Lax, Dylan Tetleton and Ben Irvin as pallbearers.

He is survived by two sons and their wives, Jimmy Wayne (Carole) Howell of Bolivar, Tennessee and Ricky Gene (Wanda) Howell of Middleton, Tennessee; two daughters and their husbands, Renita Lois (Duane) Lax of Hickory Valley, Tennessee and Nancy Gale (Jimmy) Tetleton of Middleton, Tennessee; eleven grandchildren, Christopher David (Katelyn) Howell, Justin Wade (LeAnn) Howell, Nicole Danielle (Ben) Irvin, Phillip Scott (Madison) Howell, Kristin Brooke, Dylan James, Whitley Lois and Anna Leigh Tetleton and Callie Grace Howell, all of Middleton, Tennessee, Colton Joseph and Morgan Elizabeth Lax of Hickory Valley, Tennessee; six great grandchildren, Marlee Marie, Mattie Kate and Maci Lane Irvin, Darby Kate, Cooper Davis, Brantley Wade Howell and expecting another one in November; two step-grandchildren, Bryan Keith (Anna) Entrikin, Misty Carole (Scott) Perkins; four step-great-grandchildren, Bryson Taylor and Avery Claire Entrikin, Caleb Michael and Alyssa Marie Perkins; three sisters, Glenda (Billy) Irvin of Millington, Tennessee, Shirley Graves of Middleton, Tennessee and Sandra (Johnny) Wright of Walnut, Mississippi; one brother, Kenneth (Teresa) Howell of Hickory Valley, Tennessee; three sister-in-laws, Bonnie, Dora and Frances Howell, all of Middleton, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Sammy Lynn and an infant; three brothers, Cecil, Donald and John Thomas Howell; a sister, Thelma McDonald; and a brother-in-law, Van McDonald.
