Byrl Hollice Haggard was born in Hardin County, Tennessee, October 23, 1919, the son of the late Otis Orval and Zelma Alice Garrard Haggard. On August 9, 1947, he was united in marriage to Josephine Rainey, who preceded him in death August 20, 2012.
Mr. Haggard served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Army Military Police. He was employed by the Hardin County Board of Education as a school bus driver. He also worked as a night watchman for the Temple-Chattanooga Corporation, Hardin County Middle School Custodian, and a farmer. He was a member of Foursquare Church in Savannah, Tennessee and also a member of the Woodmen of the World. He loved playing dominos, spending time with family and watching baseball.
Mr. Haggard departed this life at Hardin Medical Health and Rehabilitation Center on March 31, 2014, at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 8 days.
He is survived by three daughters, Patsy Milligan (Anthony), Beverly Nesbitt (Charles), Jan Austin (Vernie Stricklin), and one son, Terry Haggard (Kelly); seven grandchildren, Dana Nesbitt Stricklin, Angie Milligan Brasher, Ben Nesbitt (Michelle), Jessica Austin, Adam Milligan, Katie Stricklin (Dustin) and Tori Haggard; six great-grandchildren, Bailey Brasher, Rylie Brasher, Will Stricklin, Nathan Nesbitt, Bentley Nesbitt and Greyson Nesbitt.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, Josephine and parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Davis and Lela Griffin and five brothers, Robert Haggard, Herbert Haggard, twin brother Earl Haggard, Otis "Sam" Haggard and Barney Haggard.
