Carl Eugene Perkins, age 82, of Grand Junction, Tennessee, passed away Thursday morning, September 28, 2017 at his home.
The husband of Vickie Jones Perkins, who survives, he was retired from Troxel Manufacturing since 1997. He was born June 6, 1935 in Frazier, Tennessee, son of the late Thomas Benton Perkins and Lydia Montgomery Perkins and lived in Whitehaven and Memphis prior to moving to Grand Junction in 1973. He served in the US Army and enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling, but loved his family above all else. Mr. Perkins was a member of Grand Junction Church of Christ and Ashland Mississippi Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, whom he married in 1955, survivors include a daughter, Deborah Burnett (Clayton) of Grand Junction; a son, Jack Perkins of Grand Junction; a sister, Juanita Akin of Ashland, MS; three grandchildren, Jeremy Burnett, Tabitha Switzer and Amanda Ervin; and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lee Earl Perkins and two brothers, Thomas B. Perkins, Jr. and Hershel Perkins. The family requests memorial donations in his name be made to the Ashland Church of Christ, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate), the Salvation Army or the charity of the donor's choice.
