Carlene E. Hester

February 21, 1941 — July 25, 2017

Carlene Elizabeth Hester slipped from this world and into Heaven on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. Born in Arkansas to Ray and Eva Bell Priest, she grew up in Sheffield, Alabama. She married Leighton Curtis Hester, Jr. in 1958 and moved soon after to Counce, Tennessee with her husband and baby girl. Carlene spent the last 55 years as a resident of Savannah, Tennessee.

She worked at Savannah Manufacturing for several years, but her true desire was to care for her family.

She was a devoted daughter, wife to "Sonny", mother to Sheila, Sherri and Michael, and "Nana" to 7 grandsons. Her family was her world. She enjoyed making her house a home and was an amazing cook. She spent much of her time in her kitchen. Those who had the good fortune to eat at her table realize that restaurants offering "home cooking" always disappoint.

Carlene was a private person, not fond of crowds or new situations, but loved having her house full of family. She was a true friend to those blessed enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carlene is survived by her husband Curtis of Savannah, Tennessee; daughters, Sheila Hester Garland (Chris) of Old Fort, Tennessee and Sherri Hester Kneib (Tim) of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; son, Michael Hester (Jackie) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and seven grandsons, Justin Hester, Cody Blankenship, Josh Hester, Ryan Hester, Austin Kneib, Hayden Kneib, and Preston Kneib.

There will be a private graveside service held.
