Carmie Akins

Carmie Byrd Akins of Waynesboro, TN was born January 19, 1925 in Lawrence Co., TN, the daughter of the late Wiley Alfred and Ollie Spann Byrd. Ms Akins was a retired factory worker and was a member of the Highland Methodist Church.

Ms Akins departed this life on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Waynesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 90 Years, 1 Month, 9 Days.

She is survived by sons, Gary Huston Akins of Chattanooga, TN, Ricky Mack Akins of Lawrenceburg, TN; daughters, Sherry Bundrant and Vickie Groves both of Waynesboro, TN; 12 Grandchildren; 28 Great-Grandchildren; brothers, Mack Byrd of Smyrna, TN, Dale Byrd of Laverne, TN; a sister, Remona Prince of Waynesboro, TN; nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Highland Methodist Church, Lawrenceburg Highway, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, with David Decker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Andy Kelly, Jeremy Bundrant, John Akins, Steve Akins, Robert Heard and Tyler Holt. Honorary pallbearers will be Graham and Grady Hicks, Matthew and Mason Selzer, Zane Akins, Hunter Porter, Andrew Kelly, Tucker Staggs and Jackson Weathers.

Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2015 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm and Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 8 am to 12:30 pm at Shackelford Funeral Home, Waynesboro, TN..
