Mrs. Carolynn W, Meeks, age 70 of Middleton, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 3, 2015 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Chincoteague Island, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Oliver Winburn, Sr. and Caroline Josephine Herrman Winburn. On May 26, 1973, she was united in marriage to Mr. Burton Meeks. They lived in Memphis for many years before moving to the Middleton area in November, 1985. Mrs. Meeks worked 30 years as a registered nurse specializing in surgical recovery care. She began her career in nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Memphis and spent 25 years at St. Francis Hospital.
Mrs. Meeks was a very active member of Middleton First Baptist Church and the Middleton Community. At church, she was busy with benevolent care of those who were hungry or otherwise less fortunate, both locally and abroad. She loved traveling on cruises with her husband and bus tours with the church. Carolynn was a member of the Red Hats Club and the Good Sam Camping Club. A busy and active lady, her family described her as always being "on the go." With her quick , winning smile, she could be counted on the be the life of the party wherever she went. She especially enjoyed her monthly "Lunch Bunch" and Game Day activities. Additionally, Mrs. Meeks enjoyed Bar-B-Que contest judging, animals and the outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, Burton Meeks of Middleton; four daughters, Lori (Kyle) Dixon of Germantown, Natalie (Randy) McGraw of Trinity, FL, Donna (Pat) Kellick of Franklin and Stacey (Mike) McQuirter of Senatobia, MS; one son, Rickey Meeks of Middleton; three sisters, Nancy (Vince) Migliaccio of Bartlett, Patricia Beard of Oakland and Shirley Burt of Crestview, FL; one brother, Joseph (Beverly) Winburn of Germantown; nine grandchildren, Brian and Justin Mullins, Kathryn Langlois, Julia Dixon, Dena and Michael McQuirter, Matt and Mark Meeks and Tanya Sandoval; and two great-grandchildren, Drew Otero and Maddie Mullins.
