CECIL BARKER
Enville, TN: William Cecil Barker, age 97 passed away Saturday October 25, 2014 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born and reared on the Mount Farm in the Sand Mountain Community of Chester County. He was son of the late Albert Ernest (A.E.) and Angie Mae Mount Barker. He went to school at Cabo. Cecil enlisted in the U.S. Army on May 13, 1941 and was stationed in Montgomery, AL as a Medic until November 1945. He married Alice Harrison on April 21, 1979 and they made their home in Chester County. After the services Cecil worked at the Lexington Hospital where he assisted in the operating room and was a surgical technician. He later became the purchasing agent for the entire hospital. He worked at the hospital from 1960 until 1983. He also farmed as he worked at the hospital.
He is survived by his wife Alice Barker and three step-daughters; Sandra Baskerville of Utah, Wanda Hart of Pinson and Theda Harris of Jackson. Two brothers; Royce Barker of Savannah and Billy Joe Barker of Enville and a sister Wilma Frye of Enville. 10 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a step-son Freddie Harrison in 2007 and a brother Travis Barker in 1995.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Bill Evans officiating and burial will be in the Cabo Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday.
