CHARLES LEATH
Finger, TN: Charles Tedford Leath age 88 passed away Tuesday morning, October 10, 2017 at his home.
He was born September 15, 1929 at Finger and also reared at Finger, the son of the late John Hardy and Minta Pauline Tedford Leath. He went to school at Finger and Bethel Springs. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed for several years. He married Joy Ruth Massengill in 1974. They made their home on the Leath farm all their married life. He worked as an electrician in new construction with Casey Electric, retiring in 2002.
Mr. Leath is survived by his wife, Joy Ruth Massengill Leath of Finger; two daughters, Janette Gay of Orange Park, FL and Brenda Goings of Germantown; seven grandchildren; one brother, Billy Leath of Cookeville; two sisters, Jennie Courtney of Denim Springs, LA and Joyce Kammer of San Diego.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Leath and Roy Leath and three sisters, Johnnie Longmire, Mary Braly and Ann Day.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Jimmy Dyer officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at Finger Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 12 noon Friday.
