Chrystal Holt Gillis

Chrystal Holt Gillis of Waynesboro, TN, formerly of Collinwood, TN was born March 15, 1920 in Cypress Inn, TN, the daughter of the late Mastin and Joanna Moore Holt. She married Ira Gillis, December 21, 1935 and he preceded her in death, September 6, 2004. Mrs. Gillis, a retired factory worker, was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Cypress Inn, Tennessee and departed this life Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 97 Years, 4 Months, 19 Days.

She is survived by daughter, Kathy Gillis Toungette and husband, Larry of Collinwood, TN; daughter-in-law, Maude Gillis of Lexington, AL; grandchildren, Michelle Gillis, Johnny and Marie Helton, Brandon and Daphne Toungette, Beth and James Ross and Adam Toungette; great-grandchildren, Mandy and Larry, Tyler, Kaleb, Hunter, Deanna, Ella, Silas and Shelby; great-great-grandchild, Auden; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Gillis was preceded in death by a son, Glen E. Gillis; three infants; brothers, Jedi, Ray, Russ, Gene, Earnest and Virgil Holt and sisters, Gerdie Rich, Nanny McFall, Annie Falls and Pearl Rich.

Services will Sunday, August 6, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Jason Love and Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery, Cypress Inn, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County directing. Pallbearers will be Joe Hanback, Greg McFall, Roger Stults, Stan Horton, Dewayne Pigg and Darrell Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be Duel Woods, Jackie Richardson and Jerry Murphy. Visitation will be Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Sunday, August 6, 2017 from 11 am until service time at the funeral home.
