Clark Gable Cherry
Clark was born to Jack Dillard and Millie Lowery Cherry, Sr. on August 25, 1937, God saw that he needed to finish the Cherry Circle and so it is done.
Clark attended school at Dunbar High School, where he finished the ninth grade. While in school he had a paper route and also did odd jobs for different people. He joined the United States Air Force and served his country from 1956 until 1960. He worked for the Savannah Furniture Store, Tennessee Valley Authority and Yellow Creek in Alabama, and sold cars for Burdine Auto. He was a well-known and liked person. His hobbies were repairing lawn mowers, gardening, and selling watermelons. He loved to help others, especially children and the elderly. At an early age he gave his life to the Lord at Graham Chapel Church, where he became a member and served on both the Trustee Board and Steward Board. He was also a member of the American Legion.
He leaves in loving memory a very devoted wife of many years, Alma R. Chappelle Cherry; five children, Lisa Cherry, Clark Cherry, Jr., Michelle (Tony) Coleman, Christy Hunt and Renee Nichols; fourteen grandchildren, Trinette Brashers, Melecia, Kymandia, Janius, Tenash and Dushaun Cherry, Gabrielle Cherry, Anthony, Caleb and Christian Coleman, Javon, Destiny, Cieara and Dedrick; four great-grandchildren, Haileigh and Debrell Brashers, Jacarri, and Demaijae; he also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, a devoted mother-in-law, Almae Chappell; eight brothers-in-law and eleven sisters-in-law; church family, two special friends, Keith and Vic, and business partner, Minister Prentis Burdine.
He was preceded in death by a son, James D. (Peanut) Goodlow; mother and father, Jack and Millie Cherry; sisters, Lillie, Mae and Estella; brothers, Jack (J. D.), Frank Tatum, Bobby Joe, Thomas, Lonnie, John, Milton, and William; great-grandchild, Kenya.
