Danny Rainey

August 19, 1951 — March 5, 2018

Danny Rainey, age 66, of Middleton, departed this life Monday morning, March 5, 2018 at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis.

A native of Hardeman County, he was born August 19, 1951, son of the late William Hughs Rainey and Edna Marie Russell Rainey and lived all of his life in Hardeman County. He worked as a supervisor with Kilgore for around 10-15 years and was Baptist in faith. He was married to Vickie Jackson on September 15, 1990. His family describes him as a "natural cut up, enjoying picking on people and playfully aggravating everyone, but that's how you knew he truly loved you". He received his greatest enjoyment from being around his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Dwana Cranford (Chris) of Hornsby and Holly Crook (Matt) of Ripley, MS; a son, Jeff Rainey of Middleton; a sister, Helen Gatewood of Middleton; seven grandchildren, Clay, Jennifer and Joshua Rainey, Desta Marcum, Dakota Stanley, Drayden and Ethan Crook; and nieces and nephews, Shelia Rhodes, Joey, David and Larry Gatewood and Vince Rainey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard "Sonny" Rainey and a brother in law, Joe Gatewood. The family requests memorial donations in his name be made to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org/donate) or the American Heart Association (www.heart.org/donate).
