David Ray (Tiny) Murphy departed this life on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the age of 72 years, 10 months, 7 days.
He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on September 2, 1940, the son of the late David Morris and Vannie Richards Murphy. On June 5, 1960, he was united in marriage to Lorine Hopper, who preceded him in death on November 28, 1995. He married Louise Scott on October 8, 1996, who survives.
Mr. Murphy had worked for Prince-Kirby Shell Station as a manager for 10 years, was a self employed electrician and plumber for 10 years, and retired from Pickwick Landing State Park after 27 years of employment. He was a member of the Olivet Pentecostal Church, and loved bluegrass and southern gospel music, going to yard sales, and the Amish country. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and his dogs: Willy, Leroy, and Buster. Mr. Murphy was always full of jokes, loved picking on folks, and loved a good laugh. He was plain spoken and plain understood.
In addition to his wife, Louise (Wezzer) Murphy of Savannah, Tennessee; he is survived by a son, David Ray Murphy and wife Tammy of Savannah, Tennessee; daughters, Kathy Moon and husband Bill, and Donna Lorine Murphy Thomas all of Savannah, Tennessee; stepson, Lewis Collins and wife Janice of Savannah, Tennessee; stepdaughter, Teresa Cupples and husband Curt of Selmer, Tennessee; grandchildren, Magen Murphy, Dallas Murphy, Krystal Moon, Dakota James Harris, and Destinee Rose Thomas; step grandchildren, Jason Moon, Casey Collins, Patrick Collins, Chasity Hamm, Dakota Jaggers, Devan Taylor, Leslie, and Amber; step great-grandchildren, Jayce Hamm, Cameron, Gary Wade, Mattie, and Emma.
