Mr. David Patrick age 88 of Mercer, TN, died Saturday morning, October 5, 2013 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Mr. Patrick was born and reared in Bolivar, the son of the late Edwin and Alma Jones Patrick. He married the former Margaret Pirtle on January 10, 1947 and had lived in Mercer since 1966. Mrs. Patrick passed away on July 22, 2013.
A member of the Maple Springs Baptist Church, he had worked at the Bolivar Tannery, DuPont in Memphis and was owner of Mercer Supply. He also worked as a farmer, especially enjoying raising cattle. Mr. Patrick was a Mason and loved to hunt and fish. He served his country in World War II as a member of the US Army. Family was a priority for Mr. Patrick. He was a real "people person" and was described as "never having met a stranger."
He leaves his daughter Mary Spellings and her husband, Eugene, of Mercer; three sons, Joe Patrick and his wife, Linda, of Augusta, GA, Tommy Patrick of Ludowici, GA, and Mike Patrick and his wife, Sandra, of Denmark, TN; his sister, Kathleen Butler of Bolivar, 8 grandchildren, David Patrick, Adam Patrick, Nathan Patrick, Jon Spellings, Susan Emmons, Derek Patrick, Andy Spellings and Matthew Spellings; and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Quinton Patrick, and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Patrick.
