Diann Moffett

April 21, 1949 — June 23, 2014

Cheryl Diann Moffett was born on April 21, 1949, the daughter of the late James Isaac Fry and Bessie (Fry) Brewster, who survives. On December 23, 1969 she was united in marriage to Dennis McKinley Moffett, who survives.

Mrs. Moffett was born in Herrin, Illinois and raised in Michigan. She attended college in St. Paul, Minnesota at Apostolic Bible Institute. There, she earned her bachelor's degree in Apostolic Studies in 1970. This gifted and talented young lady soon married the man of her dreams, and together they yielded to the call of ministry. After graduation from ABI, they settled in Waterford, Michigan and took positions as Assistant Pastors. They faithfully worked there until they were called to Tennessee in the early 1980s, first as Assistant Pastors at New Life UPC Church, and then Senior Pastors at Morris Chapel UPC Church (later House of Mercy). "DeeDee", as she was affectionately known, decided to go back to college. She first went to Jackson State, where she graduated and received the Presidents Award, and then immediately went on to attend the University of North Alabama, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She left both institutions at the top of her class with a perfect 4.0 GPA. After graduation, she pursued a career as a Social Worker, but also continued to assist her husband as Senior Pastor at Morris Chapel UPC Church. As this church began to grow, she took the lead for the new church building being erected. She oversaw this campaign from top to bottom. She was also enlisted as the Church Administrator, overseeing all aspects of ministry and all daily operations. When you walk through the House of Mercy Church, you'll see her "fingerprints" everywhere. She also found extreme joy as the church's Choir Director. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her Lord, her family, and her church.

Mrs. Moffett departed this life on June 23, 2014 at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 2 days.

In addition to her husband, Dennis, of Savannah, Tennessee and her mother, Bessie Brewster of Hernando, Florida, she is survived by two sons, Randy (Tara) Moffett of Jackson, Tennessee and Tony (Jenni) Moffett of Lexington, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Abby Moffett and Dani Beth Moffett of Jackson, Tennessee and Ike Moffett of Lexington, Tennessee; one brother and sister-in-law, Ron (Joyce) Fry of Hernando, Florida; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrell (Heather) Moffett of Stantonville, Tennessee; two nieces, Lori and Alaina Diann Skibo of Ortonville, Michigan; three nephews, David and Ronald Fry of Troy, Michigan and Darren Moffett of Stantonville, Tennessee.
