Earl Benson departed this life in his residence in Savannah, Tennessee on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at the age of 86 years, 8 months, and 12 days. He was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on August 28, 1928, son to the late Ed and Clura Benson.
He was united in marriage to Polly Benson on April 20, 1946, who survives.
Earl retired from Aqua Glass in Adamsville, Tennessee where he was employed as a spray operator for 20 years. He was also once employed for nine years at the Florence Packing Company (Sara Lee) in Florence, Alabama. In addition to Savannah, he also lived in Walnut Grove community. He was also a member of the Church of Christ in Savannah.
Mr. Benson loved the outdoors, gardening, yard work, and other outdoor activities. He also enjoyed socializing and talking to everyone he met, as well as grocery shopping and cooking.
In addition to his wife, Polly, Earl is survived by his children, Bobby Benson and his wife Gloria, of Savannah, Tennessee and Misty Hobbs Moore and her husband, Jonathon of Stantonville, Tennessee; special nieces, Cindy and Pam; two grandchildren, Levi and Bailey; three step-grandchildren, Cory, Tyler, and Piper; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Clura Benson; brother, C. H. Benson; and nephew, Keith Benson.
