Henderson, TN: Edith Carl Wheatley Clayton age 89 passed away May 3, 2015 at the Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 26, 1925 in Chester County near Henderson, the daughter of the late Carl Ozier and Rosie Bell Preslar Wheatley. She attended schools in Henderson and in 1950 she was married to Monroe Franklin Clayton and they made their home in Chester County where she worked for the railroad and later for the State Hwy. Department. Mr. Clayton died in August 1975. She worked for Salant & Salant Mfg. and Chester Mfg. for 30 years retiring in 1993.
Mrs. Clayton is survived by a grandson, Christian McCauley and wife Tracie of Horn Lake, MS and five great grandchildren, Samantha McCauley, Sydney McCauley, Tanner McCauley, Evan Lamkin and Andrew McCauley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Monroe Clayton in 1975, a daughter, Debbie Clayton Jones in 2011 and a son, Roger Franklin Clayton in 2014 and also two sisters, Maybell Smith and Nell Russell.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Friday May 8, 2015 at Cave Springs Cemetery.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
