Edward Lee Plunk

Edward Lee Plunk, age 67, died Sunday afternoon, April 6, 2014 at his home in Henderson.
Edward was born and reared in Chester County the son of the late Jesse Lee and Hazel Maness Plunk. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1964 and attended Freed-Hardeman College. He married Debbie Cupples in 1969.

He served a total of 30 years in the Tennessee National Guard, retiring First Lieutenant.

He started his business career with his father at Jesse’s Shoe Repair of Main Street in Henderson. In 1970 they opened The Factory Outlet in Magic Valley. He also owned and operated Skate World and Boots for Less at Magic Valley. He later opened the Subway in Henderson. He owned and operated the Sears Store at Magic Valley from 1999 until he retired in September 2013.

He was a former member of the Volunteer Fire Department, and Auxiliary City Policeman, and Reserve Deputy for Chester County. He served a term as Henderson City Alderman.

He was a Master Mason, Henderson Masonic Lodge #485 and a member of the Al Chymia Shrine. As a Shriner, he requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington, KY 40502.

He is survived by two daughters; Angela Robertson and husband Joshua of White House, TN and Heather Verduzco and husband Alex of Henderson, four grandchildren; Savannah Robertson, Kaylan Robertson, Cain Verduzco, and Luke Verduzco and a sister Wanda Price of Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Denease Plunk Lipscomb in 1980.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Jerry Holland and John Talbott officiating and Military Honors will follow at Henderson City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday with Masonic Rites at 8:30 PM Tuesday.
