Edward Earl Traylor

October 3, 1917 — January 13, 2015

Edward Earl Traylor was born October 3, 1917 in Taylor, MS the son of the late Edward Eugene and Lula Spruill Traylor.

He was united in marriage to Clyde Pickens Kennedy on June 6, 1981. "Mama Clyde" preceded him in death on October 13, 2014, following 33 years of marriage.

Mr. Traylor served in the United States Army from 1939 until 1966, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class. After retiring from the military, he continued a career in Civil Service, working as a Food Service Instructor at Fort Knox, KY. Mr. Traylor was a member of Camp Knox Lodge 919 and Adamsville Lodge 338, Free and Accepted Masons. He was also a member of the Adamsville First Baptist Church. In his spare time, Mr. Traylor enjoyed watching Kentucky basketball, fishing, hunting, and building swings.

Mr. Traylor departed this life on January 13, 2015 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 97 Years, 3 Months, 10 Days. He is survived by two sons, Ed, Jr. and wife Anne of Calera, AL and Billy Joe Kennedy and wife Sue of Savannah, TN; four daughters: Jeanell Qualls and husband Owen of Stantonville, TN, Geneva Seaton and husband Elmer of Adamsville, TN, Geraldine Adkisson and husband Rex of Savannah, TN, and Genieve Smith of Hendersonville, TN; a son-in-law, Harold Littlefield of Adamsville, TN; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; four sisters: Catherine Alderson of Oxford, MS, Jo Ann Traylor of Olive Branch, MS, Frances Beard and Patty Lampkin both of Oxford, MS; a brother, Frank Traylor of Oxford, MS; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Traylor was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Littlefield; a grandson, Brent Littlefield; a granddaughter, Carrie Littlefield; a son-in-law, Jerald Smith; three sisters: Marguerite Cole, Jean Cox, and Tina Traylor; and three brothers: Claude Traylor, James Traylor, and Louis Traylor.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Traylor may be made to the Adamsville First Baptist Church Building Fund or the American Heart Association.
