Elizabeth Graves Chalkley, age 94, of Lawton, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 in Lawton. She was born to Perry and Blanche (Bastin) Graves in Wayne County, Tennessee on July 6, 1923. She attended schools in Linden, Tennessee. She married Leonard Chalkley on June 20, 1944 in the Church of Christ in Tullahoma, Tennessee. He died April 23, 2001. She had been employed by Camp Forrest, Tennessee, Carbide & Carbon, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Southern Bell Telephone, Nashville, Tennessee, Ford Motor Company, Richmond, Virginia, Barry Pate Chevrolet Dealer, Washington, D.C. and retired from Public Service Company of Oklahoma in Lawton after thirty-six years of service. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended First Baptist Church in Lawton.
Survivors include a niece, Janet Staggs and her husband, Larry, Waynesboro, Tennessee, nephew, Richard Graves and his wife, Marcy, Tallahassee, Florida, great niece, Rebecca Lowman and her husband, Vince, two great nephews, Travis Staggs and his wife, Amanda, and Kevin Staggs and his wife, Jill, and seven great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ted Graves and his wife, Lou, and sister, Judy Drosdeck and her husband, Brig. Gen. (Retired) John Drosdeck.
A short graveside service and burial will be held Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Memorial Gardens of Wayne County, Waynesboro, Tennessee.
