Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Toone, Tennessee with Tim Buffalo officiating. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mrs. Vaughan was born in Bolivar November 16, 1915 to the late Douglas and Laura Dorris Daniel. On December 29, 1934, she was united in marriage to Edd Hamilton Vaughan, who preceded her in death May 31, 1986.
She was a wonderful wife and homemaker who always kept a clean, neat home. She was a good country cook and was known, especially, for her chicken and dressing, cakes and pies. She worked with and loved many varieties of colorful flowers in her yard and had a bountiful garden every year, sharing her harvest with family and friends. She preserved God's bounty by freezing and canning things she had grown. Some favorites include her pear preserves, blackberry and strawberry jam and plum jelly. She was an experienced seamstress, and she made her own lye soap. She also enjoyed babysitting for several generations of grandchildren as well as for her neighbors' children.
She leaves as her survivors a daughter, Gladys Ruth Baker of Decaturville, Tennessee; a brother, Hubert Daniel of Lake Station, Indiana; three grandchildren, Janet Patricia Lambert, Deborah Elaine Haberski and Joed Anthony Baker; eight great-grandchildren, Camille Claybrooke (Stephen), Derek Haberski (Tonya), Charles Haberski, Stephanie Abke (David), Kirk Haberski, Joed Baker II (Chandis), Jonathan Baker (Kimberly) and James Baker (Brittany); and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Brown; and a brother, Houston Daniel.
