Elmer Gant departed this life on May 27, 2014, at the age of 87 years, 1 month, 20 days.
He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on April 7, 1927, the son of the late Lon and Faye Brashier Gant. On March 31, 1966, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Inez Mitchell, who survives. He was a farmer by trade and a member of the Spoken Word Church in Savannah, Tennessee.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Gant of Olive Hill, Tennessee; stepsons, Ronnie Lynn Mitchell and Donnie Ray Mitchell both of Savannah, Tennessee; step grandchildren, Ronnie William Mitchell and wife Kim, Latonya Durham and husband Chad, and Derick Ray Mitchell; step great-grandchildren, Gage Durham, Isaiah Mitchell, and Maylee Mitchell; sister, Dorothy Stricklin and brother, Lon Gant, Jr. both of Savannah, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Gant; sisters, Betty Arnold and Frances Gravett.
