Mrs. Erma Dee Spencer Bishop, age 74 of Middleton, Tennessee passed away Saturday evening, July 29, 2017 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
She was a native of Walnut, MS. The daughter of the late George Gilbert and Ruthie Ann Mills Spencer, her family moved to Memphis where she attended school and graduated from Humes High School with the Class of 1961.
On October 18, 1981, she was united in marriage to John W. Bishop. The Bishop's moved to Middleton in 1982 where they lived until Mr. Bishop died April 21, 2010. Mrs. Bishop worked as insurance broker and a manager for the Bank of Middleton from 1982 - 2008. She was a member of the Middleton First United Methodist Church.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed computers, camping, shopping, visiting family, Mexican food and her pomeranian dog, "Snuggles".
Her survivors include two daughters, Donna Burleson of Barlett and Cathy Waterbury (Lee) of Atoka; one son, Jim Bishop (Joanna) of Bell Buckle, TN; one sister, Ruth Ingram of Memphis; nine grandchildren, John Burleson, Judy McGinnis (Cody), Jeanne Burleson, Jay Bishop, Carrie Bishop, Casey Waterbury, Justin Waterbury (Angie), Jenna Burlison (Will) and Anna Waterbury; three great-grandchildren, Sonni and Bo Ryce Burlison and Jackson Hanks; nephew, Dale Brock (Sharrisse) of Cordova; niece, Kelley Bagwell of Collierville; great-nieces and nephews, Brody Brock, McKenzie and Michael Bagwell and Taylor Simon.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Marie Brock; a brother, James Rebon Spencer; and a niece, Phyllis Diane Brock Terrell and her husband, Pat.
