Etta Franks Sherrill

Etta Franks Sherrill of Collinwood, TN was born September 27, 1925 in Savannah, TN, the daughter of the late McKinley Neal and Ada Melson Franks. She was united in marriage to Lonzo Sherrill on April 3, 1943 and he preceded her in death on September 12, 2006.

Mrs. Sherrill was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith and had lived in the Germany Branch Community in Hardin County, TN in earlier years.

Mrs. Sherrill departed this life on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 1 Month, 8 Days.

She is survived by a son, Ricky Sherrill and wife, Kim and a daughter, Joyce Ann Devers all of Collinwood, TN; sister, Susie Stricklin of Big Ivy, TN; grandchildren, Bobby and Stanton Murphy, Scott, Steve, and Sheryl Devers, Christopher Sherrill, Cindy Daniel, Nicholas and Greg Sherrill; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sherrill was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Sherrill; a daughter, Shirley Murphy; a grandchild, Greg Murphy; two brothers, Oscar Franks, Arthur Franks; four sisters, Katherine Johnson, Mary Sherrill, Jewel Wilkerson, Edith Holt.

Services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Daniel Holt and Jerry L. Robbins officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens, Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Pallbearers will be Scott Devers, Steve Devers, Nicholas Sherrill, Greg Sherrill, Chris Sherrill, and Daniel Devers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler, Jacob, Andrew, and Brady Devers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 9 am until service time at the funeral home.
