FAYE KENT
Enville, TN: Faye Parker Kent, age 99, died Friday morning February 6, 2015 at Henderson Health and Rehab in Henderson.
She was born July 25, 1916 in Enville, TN of Chester County, the daughter of the late Jesse and Earle Bishop Parker. She was united in marriage to James C. Kent, Jr., also of Enville, in 1938. They have two daughters, Anne and Nancy.
She attended schools in Enville, Finger, and Henderson. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1932 and finished two years at Lambuth College. Before her marriage, she taught school at Montezuma, Mifflin, and Cash School House.
Ms. Faye was a lifelong member of the Enville United Methodist Church serving as Sunday school teacher to youth and adult classes, was the Youth Director to the MYF and also, served as an officer in the Enville Methodist Women Society, the Methodist Districts of Lexington and Jackson and the Memphis Conference. She served on the Chester County Library Board and was active in the Enville Area Ruritan Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Cornie Kent. She is survived by her daughters; Anne Spencer and husband Jimmy of Somerville and Nancy Freeman and husband Jerry of Henderson; a granddaughter, Laura Rogers and husband Steve; a grandson, David Spencer and wife Paige; and four great grandsons, Taylor and Tanner Spencer and Mason and Jared Wortham.
Serving as pall bearers will be: Taylor Spencer, Tanner Spencer, Steve Rogers, David Spencer, Parker Herndon, and Jerry Freeman.
Serving as honorary pall bearers will be: Harold Finley, Charles Kent, Jack O’Neal, Stan O’Neal, Larry Kent, and Jerry Neal Thompson.
A celebration of her life will be at the Enville United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM Monday with Brother Bill Evans and David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Enville.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday and from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Monday at the church.
