FRANK SWOAPE
Pinson, TN: George Franklin Swoape age 90 passed away Tuesday June 6, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born January 27, 1927 in Maury City in Crockett County, the son of the late John Fowler and Lillie Maclin Swope. He went to school in Crockett County. He was married to Ruby Brown in October 1946. He worked with his uncle Jim as a logger in California and was a cotton farmer. He retired from the Bemis Mill in 1989. He loved fishing and gardening. He was an avid knife collector.
He was a faithful member of the Pinson Baptist Church and had love for his church. He also loved his family. Mrs. Swoape passed away in 2011.
Mr. Swoape is survived by a daughter, Deborah Diggs and husband Mike of Pinson; a daughter-in-law, Janie Swope; grandchildren, Brian Swope, Bridget Fernandes, Crystal Harris, Amber Diggs and Matthew Diggs; great grandchildren, Austin Bingham, Ruby Diggs, Hunter Harris and Rory Diggs; two brothers, Thomas Swope and Roger Mac Swope and five sisters, Thelma Rose Stancill, Faye Robison, Loyce Smith, Betty Taylor and Judy Ramsey and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruby Brown Swoape in 2011; a son, Roger Swope in 2011, three brothers, Ross Swope, Glin Swope and Charlie Swope and four sisters, Dorthy Brown, Mazel Byrum, Nancy Lott and Louise Foust.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. John Gaters and Matthew Diggs officiating. Burial will follow in Rogers Cemetery at Pinson, TN.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 1:00 PM Thursday until service time 3:00 PM.
