Fred V. Sterling, age 66, of Medon, passed away early Friday morning, October 6, 2017 at Bolivar General Hospital.
The husband of Judy McCoy Sterling, who survives, he was a handy man, working on all types of engines. He also worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator, being described by his family as 'one of a kind'. He was born Thursday, October 26, 1950 in Hardeman County, son of the late Ethridge Steve and Nancy Elizabeth Wilson Sterling and lived all of his life here. He served in the US Army for short time and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and riding four wheelers. He received his greatest joy from being around his grandchildren, whom he dearly loved. Mr. Sterling was a member of New Union Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, whom he married in 1971, survivors include two daughters, Lisa Diane Sterling of Medon and Debra Denise Gier of Kaneone, HI; a son, Dennis Michael Sterling of Peublo West, CO; three sisters, Nell Rhodes of Texas, Jane Ellis of Medon and Gail Wilson of Saltillo; a brother, Woodrow Sterling of Medon; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Memorial donations in his name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
