Gene (Jam Up) Bryant

August 20, 1938 — October 5, 2013

GENE (JAM UP) BRYANT

was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on August 20, 1938 the son of the late Grady and Nettie Marie White Bryant.

On June 25, 1958 he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Grimes, who survives.

Mr. Bryant was the Assistant Road Superintendent for the Hardin County Highway Department. He was in the National Guard for 8 years. Mr. Bryant lived in Westbrook, Connecticut, San Antonio, Texas, San Juan, Puerto Rico and lived in India for 6 to 8 months all when he was in the Garment Business for Gant Shirt Company. He is a member of Hollands Creek Methodist Church and attended East End Methodist Church. Mr. Bryant was also a member of the Jaycees and was a former member of the Board for Hardin Medical Center and was a former County Commissioner.

Mr. Bryant always put his family first and he loved spoiling his grandchildren. He loved anything outdoors, deer hunting, camping, fishing and grilling. He enjoyed staying at his cabin which had been through the tornado in Saltillo,and which he bought and reassembled. Mr. Bryant loved his horses, especially Ed and loved his dogs, especially Jack. He also loved watching NASCAR races and watching Football. JAM UP, as everyone knew him, loved people and people loved him. He never met a stranger.

Mr. Bryant departed this life on October 5, 2013 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 15 days.

In addition to his wife Betty of 55 years, he is survived by his children, Kelly Bryant Foster of Stantonville, Tennessee and Todd Bryant of Henderson, Tennessee

seven grandchildren, Kara Bryant Hunt, Kasi Bryant, Jessy Foster, Krissie Bryant, Wesley Foster, Lacy Goff and Hunter Freeman

one great grandchild, Brooklyn Goff

one sister, Gayle Kilzer of Savannah, Tennessee.
