Geneva Lee Berryhill

Geneva Lee Berryhill, 85, of Savannah, died Sunday, September 1, 2013. She was born in Chester County, Tennessee May 5, 1928, the daughter of Clarence and Arkie Barnes. She was united in marriage to Robert Neil Conder in 1948, who preceded her in death. In 1961, she married Eunice Lee Berryhill, who preceded her in death on December 31, 2006.

Geneva graduated from Chester County High School in 1947. She was a starter all four years in basketball. Coach Williams said, "Shorty (Geneva) was one of the best players he ever coached despite her being not quite 5 feet tall." She was well liked among her peers.

She lived in Henderson, Tennessee until 1958, when she moved to Savannah.

After high school she worked at Selmer Bank. She owned Savannah Amusement Company for 50 years. She was part owner in the Savannah Skating Rink for 40 years.

In earlier years she enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, canning, collecting recipes, stamps, sea shells and traveling. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She leaves behind two daughters, Janet and husband Bud of Savannah, Beverly and husband Jim of Memphis; two grandchildren, Jason Stang and wife Candice of Savannah, Jonathan Stang and wife Alexandra of Jackson; great grandchildren, Taylor and Gabrielle of Savannah, Stella, Stefania, and Siena of Jackson; her sister, Ginny Kleeberg of Hoover, Alabama. Geneva also leaves behind wonderful caregivers and friends, Danielle and Destany Meeks, Barb Mullins, and Lori Nowatski. She leaves many other caregivers at Unity Hospice in Savannah.

She was preceded in death by her brother, J.C. Barnes of Hornsby, Tennessee and her parents of Selmer, Tennessee.
