Mrs. Georgia King, 103, of Bolivar, departed this life Monday morning, October 20, 2014 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was the widow of Charlie W. King who died in 1999.
A native of Hardeman County, she and her husband owned and operated Kings Grocery in Cloverport for 17 years. She was born February 28, 1911, daughter of the late George Ambrose Smith and Maggie Lee Pirtle Smith and lived all of her life in Hardeman County. She loved to grow okra and garden and was a hard worker, well known as her daddy's plow boy. Her hobbies included fishing and she was known as "firecracker" on facebook.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Lois and Tillman Hill of Bolivar; two sons and their wives, J.D. and Bea King of Selmer and Avery and Sharon King of Coldwater, MS; a daughter in law, Shirley King of Selmer; a special nephew, Tom King of Henderson; grandchildren, Dedi (Kent) Wadley, Randy (Tina) King, Jason King, Frieda King, Charles "Chuck" King, Wayne King and Anita Watson; great grandchildren, Dalton Wadley, Erica King, Randy "Bubba" Byberg, Felicia Moss, Desirree Freeman, P.J. King, Shena King, Cory Watson, Summer King Watson and Heather Watson; step great grandchildren, Jennifer Mills and Samantha Cupples and several great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Wesley King on November 18, 2003; a grandson, Esco King in 2008; and all of her brothers and sisters. The family requests memorials be directed to the Hardeman County Rescue Squad.
