GERTIE MAY MURPHY
was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on January 9, 1937 the daughter of the late John Lewis and Annie Jewel Banks Hopper.
Gertie was a homemaker and a member of Olivet Pentecostal Church, where she loved to sing. Gertie enjoyed collecting dolls, flowers and decorating her house. She loved Christmas and decorating her home with a lot of lights.
Gertie departed this life on January 21, 2018 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 81 years and 12 days.
She is survived by her children, Lonnie Lee Murphy and his wife Phyllis, Joel Wayne Murphy and his wife Melissa, John Loyd Murphy, Michael Lynn Murphy and his wife Lisa, Sherry Lynn Irvin and her husband Danny, Tracy Michelle Morris and her husband Dewayne, all of Savannah, Tennessee and Jeremy Wayne Murphy and his wife Rebecca of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.
22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren
three sisters, Pauline Franks, Josephine Hopper and Linda Davis, all of Savannah, Tennessee
In addition to her parents, Gertie was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Loyd Murphy, one son, Raymond Earl Murphy, one sister, Lorine Murphy, two brothers, J. D. Hopper and Virgil Hopper, one grandchild, Jessica Michelle Morris and two great grandchildren, Jaden Lynn Williamson and Mackelti Carolyna Reeves.
