Glen Abernathy Chambers, age 75, of Selmer, Tennessee died Tuesday March 25, 2014 at Selmer. Abb, as he was affectionately known, was born on December 14, 1938 in Selmer, the youngest of eight siblings born to James Carl Chambers (d., 1977) and Mary Lou Evans Chambers (d., 1945).
Abb had numerous business interest in the McNairy County area for many years. He was an avid boater, living and enjoying the waters of Pickwick Lake for many years. He was an Army Veteran who served his country during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Abb was of Methodist Faith attending Pickwick United Methodist Church in Counce, Tennessee and First United Methodist Church in Selmer.
He is survived by his daughter's Wendy Chambers Elliott (Larry), of Canal Winchester, Ohio, and Cynthia Chambers of Memphis, Tennessee, and his only grandchild, Kaitlyn Elliott, of Canal Winchester, Ohio. Abb is also survived by a brother, William Charles (Bear) Chambers; two sisters, Alene Chambers Pettigrew and JoAnn Chambers Hughes; a sister-in-law, Faydean Wagoner Chambers, and a brother-in-law, Billy Ray Hughes, all of McNairy County.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, James Robert Chambers, and Warren G. Chambers; three sisters, Audrey Chambers Dowty, Mildred Chambers Wigginton, and Willie Mae Chambers Thomas.
Abb also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory.
