Gordon Lindsey Hinton was born in Lutts, Tennessee, May 8, 1933, the son of the late Marvin Lindsey and Louise Estelle McFall Hinton. On July 2, 1955, he was united in marriage to Annie Octavia Tidwell, who preceded him in death on October 3, 2012.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War in the Army Corps of Engineers. Later he was employed as a design engineer for Weyerhaeuser, where he retired. He was a member and served as an elder of Second Creek Church of Christ; he also served as a member of the Walnut Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Hinton departed this life at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Alabama on April 1, 2014, at the age of 80 years, 10 months and 24 days.
He is survived by three sons, David Lee Hinton and wife, Mevaline of Florence, Alabama, Larry Lindsey Hinton and wife, Cynthia of Lutts, Tennessee, Anthony Jeffrey Hinton and wife, Rita of Collinwood, Tennessee, and one daughter, Shelia Octavia Hinton Van Fleet and husband, Troy of Savannah, Tennessee; ten grandchildren, David Hinton II, Kristy Hinton, Joshua Hinton, Adrienne Hinton Hodum and husband, Josh, Jonathan Hinton and wife, Emily, Loudia Troxell and husband, Daryl, Tiffani Hinton, Troy Van Fleet, Jr. and wife, Andrea, Tyler Van Fleet and Courtney Van Fleet; five great-grandchildren, Karlee Hinton, Bentley Hodum, Emma Kate Hinton, Dakota Troxell and Trey Van Fleet; one brother, Freeman D. Hinton and wife, Eva of Lutts, Tennessee and two sisters, Frances Marie Palmer and husband, Doyle and Ivadell Holcome, all of Florence, Alabama.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Tina Lynn Williams Hinton.
