Hallie Thomas (Tommy) Bishop departed this life on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, 6 days. He was born in Chester County, Tennessee on November 13, 1932, the son of the late Joe Kent and Zelphia Isabell Hollin Bishop. On March 24, 1951, he was united in marriage to Betty Jo Hunter, who survives.
Tommy was a truck driver for Garan Inc. for 8 years and had done heavy construction work for 30 years. He had lived in Milledgeville since 1958. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, building things, and gardening. Tommy loved helping people and working at his church. You could find him hanging out with friends at the nearby coffee shop. He was a member of The Sanctuary (Milledgeville Pentecostal Church) and a member of the Henderson Masonic Lodge #485 in Henderson, Tennessee.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Bishop of Milledgeville, Tennessee; children, Kathy Scott and husband, Ray of Pickwick Dam, Tennessee, Patty Hughes and husband, Rickey of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, Danny Bishop and wife, Deborah of Jacks Creek, Tennessee; brother, George Henry Bishop of Henderson, Tennessee; grandchildren, Brian Scott, Heather Whitley, Nicholas Scott, Jonathan Hughes, Kelly Swafford, and Misty Kendrick; step grandchildren, Katie Moore, Scott Whitley, and Sarah Duncan; great- grandchildren, Dalton Swafford, Jake Whitley, Ryleigh Grace Scott, Laura Lee Whitley, Ronan Scott, Avery Hughes, and Owen Hughes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, W.C. Bishop and Jim Bishop; sisters, Ruby Melton, Lois Bannister, Gladys Grisham, and Mary Jo Carter.
