Mrs. Hazel L. Yopp, age 83, of Hickory Valley, departed this life Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Gadsden Regional Hospital in Gadsden, Alabama.
The widow of J.D. Yopp, who died in 2011 after almost 58 years of marriage, she was retired as a cafeteria worker for Bolivar Middle School and was a homemaker. She was born Friday, February 16, 1934, in Hardeman County, daughter of the late Jewell Wesley and Martha Frances McCommons Cossar and lived in Memphis until 1983 when she moved back to this area. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and canning, especially beets, greenbeans and corn, which she lovingly distributed to her family. Mrs. Yopp was an active member of West Memorial Baptist Church, participating in the Awana Children's Program, working in the nursery and being a part of the prayer chain.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sherry Lynn and Steve Casebolt of Nashville; a son and his wife, Mike and Wilma Yopp of Rainbow City, AL; five sisters, Peggy Goodman of Bolivar, Ruby Maddox of Memphis, Margie Mignard, Evelyene Hoover and Diane Doles, all of Hickory Valley; four brothers, Charles and Jimmy Cossar of Bolivar, J. W. and Mickey Cossar of Hickory Valley; five grandchildren, Megan Hayes, Lance Wamble, Amy Messer, Brandon and Brian Yopp; and four great grandchildren, Claire and Maci Messer, Hallie and James Wamble. Memorial donations in her name may be made to the donor's choice of charities.
