Mrs. Sammons passed from this life Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 30 days.
Born Ruby Helen Woodard, November 1, 1933 in Lauderdale County to James and Bessie Lou Jackson Woodard, Mrs. Sammons was a homemaker. She married Thomas Davis Sammons on February 21, 1964 and worked for Sears and the State of Tennessee as a psychiatric hospital statistician. She taught Sunday school, had been a Bible Study Fellowship Teacher, a Community Bible Study Leader, and was a member of Collierville First Baptist Church. She was a "prayer warrior."
In addition to her husband, Thomas Sammons, Mrs. Sammons leaves a son, David Briggs and wife Dayna of Florence, MS; two daughters, Melendy Kelly and husband Dennis of Memphis, and Lisa Pine and husband Lance of Birmingham, AL; and seven grandchildren, Christopher and Jessica Kelly, Matthew Briggs, Anna Briggs-Henderson, Jessica Pine, and Georgia and Garrett Terwilleger.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leroy and James Woodard.
