Herbert Wilson Bradford

HERBERT W. BRADFORD
Henderson: Herbert Wilson Bradford, age 95, died Sunday evening at Jackson General Hospital.
He was born and reared in Nashville, in the Old Hickory Boulevard area, the son of the late Edward C. and Daisy Bowers Bradford. He went to school in Nashville and later entered the U.S. Army Air Force. He did basic training in Georgia, pre-flight training at Walnut Ridge, AR and served in Ireland, Scotland, and France during WW II.
He married Marjorie Martin and they made their home in Nashville where Mr. Bradford worked at E.L. Geistman Company for forty two years, retiring as parts foreman in 1984.
He moved to Henderson in 2001 to make his home near his son, Frank.
He loved to fish, cook and watch NASCAR racing. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Mr. Bradford was a member of the Estes Church of Christ.
He was survived by a son, Frank Bradford and wife Susan of Henderson; grandchildren, Olivia Archambault and husband Adam; Brittany Bradford, Clifton Laird, Sarah Laird and Emily Laird, great-grandchild, Isla Drew Bledsoe, and sisters: Maxine Roberts of Franklin, Betty Jean Bradford of Nashville and Virginia Nalls of Madison, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2000, two brothers, Edward Bradford and Leonard Bradford; four sisters, Ollie Belle Wells, Ruby Yeargin, Alberta Bradford and Marie Phlierger; and a daughter in-law Beverly Howell Bradford in 2007.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Jim 'Rooster' Pitts, Clay Young, and Hoyt Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville at 3:00 PM Friday with John Miller officiating..
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 5:00 PM Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mid-South Youth Camp, c/o Freed-Hardeman University, 158 E. Main Street, Henderson, TN 38340
