Mr. Leo Meeks passed away from this life at 87 years, 1 month and 17 days at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 6, 2013 in Corinth, MS.
Mr. Meeks was born in Tippah Co., MS on September 20, 1925 to the late Joe and Lessie Crum Meeks.
On December 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Annie Mae Graham, who departed this life on December 27, 2009. He was a member of New Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Walnut, MS.
He worked for the Frisco / B&N Railroad as a carman, retiring after 35 years.
He loved to work in his garden, grow peanuts, fish and hunt, and "kick up his leg" at live bluegrass music performances at the square in Corinth.
He had four daughters, Delores (James) Thurmond of Middleton, Brenda (late Ray) White of Enville, Kathy (Donnie) Turner of Middleton and Carol (Terry) Berryman of Middleton; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, who he loved like a son, Burt (Carolynn) Meeks of Middleton; two sisters, Doris (Robert) Henry of Ripley, MS and Louise Mathis of Memphis; one special nephew, Kenneth Leo Henry of Southaven, MS; and special friend, John Billy Jeanes of Ripley, MS.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, G. W. Meeks; and four sisters, Geneva Null, Flossie Mauney, Flora Walker and Berdie Mae Meeks.
By his request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the New Salem Primitive Baptist Cemetery Fund, 25830 Highway 370, Falkner, MS 38629.
