HOWARD ROGERS
Henderson, TN: Hughie Howard Rogers, age 75 passed away September 15, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
He was born June 14, 1939 in McNairy County, the son of the late Ed and Bessie Sharp Rogers. He attended school in Adamsville and graduated from Adamsville High School. He served in the U.S. Navy for one enlistment and after service he worked as a contractor, working with sheet metal, roofing, and heating and air.
Mr. Rogers was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bolivar and the American Legion. He made his home in Bolivar, TN most of his adult life and had also lived in Lexington and Henderson.
Mr. Rogers is survived by two daughters, Gina Rogers Smith (Gene) of Lexington and Mary Ann Coker; two step daughters, Elizabeth Morris (Clay) and Mary Beth Rowland (Wesley) all of Henderson; three grandchildren, Scott Conaway (Cindy), Jessica Conaway and Tessie Ross and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Durham of Savannah and a brother, Robert (Bob) Rogers of Lexington.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Anita Ramsey, Marie Blurton and Imogene Wright and a brother, Edmond Rogers.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Dyer officiating and burial will follow in Milledgeville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Johnson Chapel beginning at 11:00 AM Thursday until service time at 2:00 PM Thursday.
