IOLA BUTTERFIELD
Henderson, TN: Iola Ethel St. Germain Butterfield, age 100 passed away October 20, 2013 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born December 15, 1912and she reared in Unity Saskatchewan, Canada the daughter of the late Louis Emil and Katheryn Elizabeth Calder St. Germain. She went to school in Canada and moved to Davenport, Iowa in 1927. She was married to Dean Paul Butterfield in 1930. They made their home in East Moline, IL and they both were musicians, owning their own Music Studio and both teaching music lessons. Mr. Butterfield began preaching for the Churches of Christ in 1942. They served churches mostly in Wisconsin until they retired in 1969 and moved to the Joplin area of Missouri. Mr. Butterfield died in 1970.
Mrs. Butterfield moved to Henderson in 1989 to make her home near Ron and Edna. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Paul Butterfield of Henderson and Louis Fred Butterfield of Searcy, AR and five daughters, Gwendolyn Ann Snyder of Issaquah, WA, Ruby Louise Blessum of Lenexa, KS, Kathryn Lois Couser of Greer, SC and Leigh Louk of Travelers Rest, SC; 24 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter, Julie Lee Daniels in 2004.
Funeral services will be Thursday 11:30 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Bro. Ben Flatt and Lou Butterfield officiating with a committal graveside Friday 1:00 PM at Dudenville Cemetery near Golden City, MO.
The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel Wednesday 4PM until 9 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alyson Kate Black Memorial Scholarship c/o of Freed- Hardeman University.
