IRA WAYNE MCGARRITY

was born in Mississippi on April 11, 1938 the son of the late Ira Glenn and Minerva Jane Scallion McGarrity.

On February 2, 1967 he was united in marriage to Diane Irvin, who survives.

Mr. McGarrity worked as an End Welder for LTV Steel for 30 years and he served his country in the United States Army. Mr. McGarrity was a member of the Gospel Singing Groups, Deep South and Prophet Quartets and The Galileans of Mississippi. He loved vegetable gardening and coin collecting.

Mr. McGarrity departed this life on October 22, 2014 in Memphis, Tennessee at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 11 days.

In addition to his wife, Diane of 47 years, he is also survived by his children, Byron McGarrity of Savannah, Tennessee, Marsha McGarrity of Savannah, Tennessee, Ronnie Lee of Jackson, Mississippi and Mark Lee of Mississippi.

two sisters, Hazel Smith of Kilmichael, Mississippi and Margaret O'Bryant of Cascilla, Mississippi

two brothers, Perry McGarrity of Winona, Mississippi and Guy McGarrity of Sebastopol, Mississippi

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Martha Rae Busby.
